Structure and bonding of ScCN and ScNC: Ground and low-lying states

► We have studied through ab initio methods the polytopic system Sc[CN]. ► A series of low lying states for both isomeric forms have been examined. ► Around equilibrium the system displays a pronounced Sc+[CN]− ionic character.
