The effect of light-induced conical intersections on the alignment of diatomic molecules

► Laser light induces conical intersections (LICI) in diatomic molecules. ► Due to LICI, rovibronic molecular motions are strongly coupled. ► An effect of LICI on molecular alignment is examined theoretically. ► We perform numerical simulation for Na2 dressed by light. ► Strong impact of LICI on alignment is observed for ℏωL = 1.968 eV.
