TiO2/SiO2 supported vanadia catalysts for the ODH of propane
چکیده انگلیسی

• Supported vanadia prepared from TiO2/SiO2 supports containing 70% and 90% TiO2.
• Anatase phase on SiO2 was thermally stable up to 1123 K for the 70TiSi support.
• 6% vanadia on the 70TiSi support showed the best catalytic activity and selectivity.
• Conversion and selectivity data were well explained by the kinetic parameters.
• 70% TiO2 appeared to be the optimum amount on this SiO2 support.

Supported vanadia catalysts were prepared on two TiO2/SiO2 supports, which contained 70% and 90% TiO2. The supports were thermally stable up to 1023 K and surface vanadia species were formed on them. The supported catalysts were characterized by Raman and FTIR spectroscopy, XRD and TPR. The surface area of the catalysts was also determined. The supported vanadia catalysts were active for the propane oxidative dehydrogenation (ODH) reaction and the most active and selective catalyst contained 6% vanadia, which appeared to be the monolayer limit on these supports. Furthermore, the catalyst formed with 70% TiO2 in the support was more active than the catalyst containing 90% TiO2. The kinetic parameters were determined and were able to explain the variations in conversion at iso-contact time and selectivity at iso-conversion for the different catalysts.
