Fluorenone defects in poly-fluorene: Investigations on model compounds

For this study, we synthesized defined model oligomers to study their photophysical properties in order to be able to distinguish between the two emission mechanisms. We found clear indications that the emission is caused by on-chain fluorescence. The interaction of various solvents with the excited states is highlighted.
