Tuning the oxidation states of Au and exploring new superhalogen anions, AuOxFy− (x, y = 1-4; x + y = 2-5)

- AuOxFy− species (x + y = 2-5) are systematically studied for the first time.
- All AuOxFy− species belong to the class of superhalogen anions.
- AuOxFy− species are stable only up to +5 oxidation state of Au.
- AuOxFy− exist in the form of (AuOx−2Fy−)O2 complexes for x + y = 5.
