SmFeN micro particles for matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry of model peptides

- SmFeN micro particles (MPs) were applied to MALDI-MS of model peptides.
- Enhancement of matrix- and analyte-related peaks was observed.
- Absorbance change of matrix molecule by mixing MPs was discussed.
- Diffuse reflectance spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy were carried out.
- Irregularities on MPs surface were also responsible for the ion peak enhancement.
