Physical gelation of organic liquids by achiral amino acid based amphiphilic gelators: Effect of chirality

► Achiral β-alanine based amphiphililes can also form organogels. ► Chirality enhances gelation ability of amino acid based amphiphiles. ► L-alanine organogels are thermally more stable than β-alanine organogels. ► The β-alanine organogels are stronger than L-alanine organogels. ► Strength of the organogels increases with the increase of hydrocarbon chain length.
