Controllable growth of ZnO mesocrystals using a facile electrochemical approach

► Rice-like ZnO mesocrystals are synthesized by a simplified electrochemical route. ► Morphologies of meso-ZnO are controllable tuned by change the current densities. ► Meso-cone is formed in the 'OA' manner. ► The smooth process of the crystal surface was in the 'OR' manner. ► The meso-ZnO exhibits an obvious visible emission and no UV emission is observed.
