Charge-transfer excitation in collisions of He+ ions with CO2 molecules under beam conditions

► Luminescence spectra from He+ + CO2 were recorded. ► The bands of the CO2+(B∼2Σu+-X∼2Πg) and CO2+(A∼2Πu-X∼2Πg) transitions are observed. ► The collision energy range Elab = (5/1000) eV. ► Emission cross section was measured. ► No evidence of fragmentation of CO2.
