Monitoring nuclear spin-flip processes and measuring spin-diffusion constants via hole burning into the magnetization

► Spin-diffusion was followed by burning holes into the nuclear magnetization. ► Spin flips as elementary steps of spin diffusion were observed. ► Spin-diffusion like behavior is observed by following the re-filling of the holes. ► The one-dimensional character of spin diffusion in a liquid crystal could be proven.
