Laser spectroscopy of the C1Σ+-X1Σ+ transition of ScBr

► Generation of gas-phase ScBr molecule using laser ablation/reaction. ► A new transition of ScBr was studied using laser induced fluorescence spectroscopy. ► Molecular constants for both the C1Σ+ and the X1Σ+ states were determined. ► Low-lying electronic states of scandium monohalides are compared.
