Solvation dynamics of coumarin 153 in mixtures of carbon dioxide and room temperature ionic liquids

► Carbon dioxide effect on the solvation dynamics was studied in two room temperature ionic liquids. ► The slower response of solvation dynamics became much faster by dissolving carbon dioxide. ► The effect of carbon dioxide was found to be similar to that on the translational diffusion of the solute.
