Adsorption of water on a hydrophobic surface - The case of antimony(1Â 1Â 1)

► Systems which show the lotus effect are appealing for a variety of applications. ► Water adsorption on a single crystal surface with intrinsic hydrophobic properties was characterized. ► Water TDS on Sb(1 1 1) shows only a condensation feature starting at very small exposures. ► Spectroscopy, kinetics, and dynamics techniques were used to study water adsorption on Sb(1 1 1). ► Antimony is chemically highly inert.
