Theoretical study of [n]ivyanes, n = 2-8

► A novel family of chain hydrocarbons termed ivyanes were recently synthesized. ► The structural, spectroscopic, and mechanical properties of [n]ivyanes, n = 2-8, are computationally investigated. ► A Young elastic modulus of 1.92 GPa is predicted.
