Ab initio study of the ground and excited states of the zinc sulfide diatomic system, ZnS

► Eighteen electronic states of ZnS were studied theoretically. ► Full potential energy curves were constructed. ► Three electronic states (X1Σ+, a3Π, A1Π) are bound with respect to the ground state atoms. ► Ground state binding energy D0 = 61.0 ± 1.5 kcal/mol.
