Luminescent microstructures in bulk and thin films of PMMA, PDMS, PVA, and PS fabricated using femtosecond direct writing technique

► We report emission from the femtosecond laser irradiated regions of PMMA, PDMS, PS and PVA. ► The cause of emission from laser modified regions is attributed to the formation optical centers. ► Unique excitation spectrum obtained by monitoring at different wavelengths. ► ESR spectrum confirmed the presence of free radicals in the irradiated regions of PMMA, PDMS, and PS.
