I2 dissociation by O2(a1Δ) generated from the reaction O(1D) + N2O

► New kinetic model for the dissociation of iodine by singlet oxygen has been tested. ► Pulsed photolysis of nitrous oxide - iodine mixtures was used to generate singlet oxygen. ► Analysis of the temporal profiles of I2, I atoms and singlet oxygen supports the dissociation model.
