On the salting in effect of tetraalkylammonium bromides

► Tetraalkylammonium bromides, TAABr, increase the solubility of hydrocarbons in water. ► A microscopic rationalization of this salting in has not yet emerged. ► The magnitude of the cavity creation work is smaller in aqueous 1 M TAABr solutions than in water. ► This should be the microscopic/molecular origin of the salting in effect.
