Energy of the quasi-free electron in dense neon

►The quasi-free electron energy in dense neon is measured from low density to near that of the triple point liquid and a critical point effect is observed. ► These measurements represent the first complete view of the quasi-free electron energy from low density to the density of the triple point liquid for a repulsive fluid. ► The local Wigner-Seitz model is shown to accurately fit these data.
