Size-selective recognition of gold nanoparticles by a molecular chaperone

► Addition of molecular chaperone prefoldin (PFD) inhibits salt-induced aggregation of Au NPs. ► The interaction between PFD and Au NPs is observed only for the specific Au NPs size. ► This is the first demonstration of size-specific stabilization of Au NPs with non-covalent bonding.
