Hydration of NaHCO3, KHCO3, (HCO3-)2, HCO3- and CO32- from molecular dynamics simulation and speed of sound measurements

► The dimer formation of the bicarbonates is not important. ► HCO3- ion decreases the hydration number for sodium and potassium ions. ► The minor amount of dimeric structure of HCO3- cannot be definitely excluded.
