Calcium induced ATP synthesis: Isotope effect, magnetic parameters and mechanism

► Magnetic isotope effect 43Ca/40Ca is found in the ATP synthesis. ► Enzymatic ATP synthesis is catalyzed by calcium ions and exhibits 43Ca/40Ca magnetic isotope effect. ► The activity of enzyme with 43Ca2+ ions is 2.0±0.3 times higher than that of enzyme with 40Ca2+. ► It demonstrates that ATP synthesis is an ion-radical process promising in biomedical applications.
