Calculated two-photon electronic transitions in sulfuric acid and its atmospheric relevance

► Two-photon absorption is not a likely mechanism for the photolysis of sulfuric acid in the atmosphere. ► Two-photon transition strength shows less than expected variation with wavelength of the two photons. ► A method for calculating the two-photon J-values is suggested.
