The reduction of Cu2+ to Cu+ and optical properties of Cu+ ions in Cu-doped and Cu/Al-codoped high silica glasses sintered in an air atmosphere

Excitation (A) and emission (B) spectra of Cu-doped and Cu/Al-codoped HSGes. The luminescence of Cu+ and Cu+-Cu+ is observed and tuned with the addition of Al3+ ions.
