Quantum calculations are presented for the scattering of electrons from carbon monosulfide in its ground electronic state (1Σ), and occupying its ground rotovibrational level. The work focuses on the total integral, elastic cross sections and shows how different treatments of the short-range exchange effects are essentially producing the same partial cross sections over a very broad range of collision energies (1.0-100.0 eV) which are well above the threshold region. The analysis of the near-threshold (â¼0.7 eV) shape resonance of 2Î symmetry confirms the quality of the exchange forces employed in this work and indicates the essential role of short-range correlation effects.
