Near infrared emission in rubrene:fullerene heterojunction devices

Near infrared emission is studied in rubrene:fullerene planar and bulk heterojunction bifunctional devices. Its relationship between EL spectra, photovoltaic efficiency, and structure of the junction is discussed. It is attributed to an interface exciplex.
