FTIR investigation of the reaction between pyridine and iodine in a polyethylene host. Formation of N-iodopyridinium polyiodide

Confined to the cavities of a low-density polyethylene host, pyridine reacts with I2 to yield N-iodopyridinium polyiodide. In stretched polyethylene this is the main product.
