Fluorescent Ag nanoclusters in glass induced by an infrared femtosecond laser

Fluorescent Ag nanoclusters in glass can be selectively induced by femtosecond laser irradiation and successive heat treatment. The figure shows the fluorescence under (b) 532 nm and (c) 488 nm laser excitation from the amber color region due to the resonant absorption of the surface plasmon of Ag nanoclusters.
