A CASPT2 study of the excited states of adenine tautomers with silver ions

MS-CASPT2 calculations are employed to study the UV-absorption spectra of adenine-Ag complexes. The results indicate that even if the energetically most favourable species in gas phase are chelates, bidentation is destabilized in aqueous phase.
