Quantum chemical study on the population of the lowest triplet state of psoralen

Efficient and competitive population of the reactive lowest-lying triplet state in gas-phase phototherapeutic psoralens can be achieved by combining intersystem crossing and internal conversion processes, as suggested by quantum chemical CASPT2 calculations.
