The amorphous analogs of the crystalline monohydrate of HCl: Structures and spectra

Our objective is insight to solvation of strong acids in H-bonded systems. Here we probe the influence of order/disorder on the local solvation by relating the spectra and structure of the monohydrate of HCl in its (ferroelectric) crystalline (a) and amorphous (b) phases using complementary experimental and computational methods.
