Effect of central metal ions on first hyperpolarizability of unsymmetrical metal porphyrins

We report here a new set of engineering criteria for large molecular first-order NLO responses by varying the central metal ions in a porphyrin-based NLO chromophore structural moiety which amplifies chromophore hyperpolarizability through metal-to-macrocycle charge transfer character along the D-to-A molecular axis.
