Solvation effect on resonance structure: Extracting valence bond-like character from molecular orbitals

The weights of resonance structures of solvated molecules are computed. For water molecule, the most important contribution arises from the structure in which one of O-H bonds is polarized and the other forms covalent bonding both in gas and in aqueous solution phases.
