Passive shimming of a superconducting magnet using the L1-norm regularized least square algorithm

• A novel passive shimming algorithm for superconducting magnets is proposed.
• Better balance the dual constraints of field uniformity and the total mass of shims.
• 43% more efficient compared with the conventional linear programming approach.
