Investigation of the effect of a variety of pulse errors on spin IÂ =Â 1 quadrupolar alignment echo spectroscopy

► Spin I = 1 quadrupolar alignment lineshape distortions are investigated by simulation. ► A method is developed to suppress artifacts associated with pulse errors in quadrupolar alignment relaxation measurements. ► The potential leakage of double and single quantum coherence in quadrupolar alignment relaxation studies is analyzed.
