Relaxation dynamics of labyrinthine submonolayer films

► Relaxation dynamics of labyrinthine submonolayer films was studied by STM. ► Real time observation of evolution of homoepitaxial films on SrTiO3(001). ► Dominant microscopic processes in different stages of the relaxation are revealed. ► The observed morphological evolution is reproduced by a kinetic MC simulation.
