ARPES study of the oxygen-induced reconstructed Cu(332): Surface state confinement

► Surface states in O/Cu(332) are confined in the (111) terraces by the Cu(110)O(2x1) facets forming a quasi 1D system. ► Depletion of states at (110) facets is assigned as one of the scattering mechanism that results in the electron confinement. ► For large (111) terraces, part of photoemitted electrons conserve the parallel momentum with respect the (111) plane.
