Small Pt nanoparticles on the TiO2 (110)-(1 × 2) surface

► Small Pt clusters distribution has been determined. ► Upon annealing at 825 K the area and height distribution of Pt clusters spread out. ► Pt dimer and trimer structures agree with previous theoretical calculations. ► No evidences of cluster encapsulation were observed for the 1 × 2 surface up to 825 K.
