Structure of V thin films on Al(100) using XPD, LEED, and LEIS

► XPD data suggest growth of an ordered V structure on Al(100) at room temperature. ► Ordered V structure occurs despite the 6% lattice mismatch of bcc V on Al(100). ► XPD and LEIS data suggest that V atoms diffuse into and occupy Al lattice sites. ► For 7ML V deposition a distorted bcc alloy forms with V and Al on similar sites.
