Modeling the liquid-gas interface using self-assembled monolayers

► Molecules scattering from SAMs appear to undergo extensive thermalization. ► Surface collisions are highly inelastic and show substantial momentum conversion. ► Energy interconversion and trapping increase with the length of monolayer's molecules. ► No further changes in those processes are observed for monolayer's molecules with more than six carbons.
