Superhydrophobic elastomer surfaces with nanostructured micronails

► A new method for modifying elastomer surfaces has been demonstrated. ► Nanostructure assisted injection molding gives elongated nail-shaped micronails. ► The modification elevates the water contact angle up to 88°. ► The modified surfaces are robust and exhibit superhydrophobicity.
