Surface electronic and structural properties of nanostructured titanium oxide grown by pulsed laser deposition

► Nanostructured TiO2 with variable morphology was grown by pulsed laser deposition. ► Porous films show a higher degree of surface local disorder than compact films. ► Surface defects are more easily induced in porous than in compact films. ► Surface structure affects reactivity towards organic/hydroxyl groups.
