Cobalt induced nanocrystals on Ge(001)

► The deposition of Co on Ge(001) results in the formation of peaked and flat-topped nanocrystals. ► We examine the shape evolution of the nanocrystals as a function of their size. ► Dynamics is observed on the flat-topped nanocrystals.
