MFI-type materials prepared by co-condensation synthesis approach

► Hydrophobic micro/mesoporous materials have been prepared by co-condensation method using 3-mercaptopropyltrimethoxysilane (MPTS) as organo-functional compound and silica co-source. ► The MPTS incorporated into the zeolite framework led to an increased hydrophobicity and formation of mesopores, which are preserved under plasma treatment. ► A simple and less toxic method has been developed to prepare materials with improved hydrophobicity.
