Intensive care medicine: Navigation into the future!

While expanding in its role and capacity, intensive care medicine is progressively facing challenges. Its central role means the interest is shared between medical staff, the public and politicians. Decision to admit, research, infectious diseases' training, point of care ultrasound and ICU capacity may be the most pressing. Even more, the gold standard role of evidence based medicine had been questioned. In this article, some of the most important challenges are discussed in line with innovative solutions.
