The differential effects of atorvastatin co-administered with ampicillin on the bacterial growth and biofilm formation of Staphylococcus aureus

These suggest that atorvastatin and ampicillin may in fact be targeting a common bacterial pathway integral to biofilm formation, and this warrants further verification on the mechanisms involved as well as on the identification of novel enzyme off-targets that could potentially impact the treatment of S. aureus infections.
