Protocolo diagnóstico de las miopatías

Different complementary methods are used, such as muscle enzymes, electromyography, muscle magnetic resonance, muscle biopsy and molecular studies when required, in order to obtain a specific diagnosis. Nevertheless, a final diagnosis cannot be reached in a considerable amount of cases. Undoubtedly during the next years many of these will stop being orphan cases, as there are constant findings regarding the characteristics and/or features that allow for a better understanding of myopathies. This protocol pretends to establish the basic concepts for the diagnostic approach of muscle disorders in adults, without comprising diseases of the neuromuscular junction or motor neuron, although it is true that some of them will be part of the differential diagnosis in the study of myopathies.
