Purtscher's retinopathy as the presenting manifestation of immune thrombocytopenic purpura

This is the first reported association between Purtscher's retinopathy and ITP. Complement activation has been implicated in the pathogenesis of both ITP and Purtscher's retinopathy, and we suggest that the patient's systemic process accounted for the retinal findings.
