Toxic effects of lead exposure in Wistar rats: Involvement of oxidative stress and the beneficial role of edible jute (Corchorus olitorius) leaves

► Pb is a pervasive and persistent environmental toxicant. ► Oxidative stress has been proposed as a possible mechanism involved in Pb toxicity. ► Jute leaf is edible and contains significant quantity of phyto-antioxidants. ► This is the first report on protective role of jute leaf against Pb-intoxication. ► It mainly acts through reducing oxidative stress associated with Pb-intoxication.
