Genetic toxicology evaluation of essential oil of Alpinia zerumbet and its chemoprotective effects against H2O2-induced DNA damage in cultured human leukocytes

► Essential oil (EO) of Alpinia zerumbet did not induce genetic toxicity in human leukocytes. ► EO did not exert any mutagenic effects on peripheral blood cells and bone marrow in mice. ► EO showed scavenging effects against DPPH radicals. ► EO have protective effects against clastogenesis induced by H2O2.
